Statewide Connectivity Issue Brings Down Comal Poll Books for Several Hours

Comal County Public Information Officer Cary Zayas said polling pads were offline for three to four hours at county vote centers this morning due to a connectivity issue with Knowink.

Voting was not disrupted, she said. Poll books are back up.

Poll books are used to scan voters’ drivers licenses when they check-in to vote.

“Voters simply had to sign a paper form qualifying them as registered voters in Comal County,” Zayas said. “Usually, they would sign electronically after scanning their driver’s license. We went back to doing things the old way, physically signing paper forms while working through the technical issues. Voting machines were never affected. Everything is back up and going smoothly now.”
