2,000 Rainbow Trout Headed to Guadalupe River State Park for Saturday Fishing Event

WORD of Comal County and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will stock the Guadalupe River with 2,000 rainbow trout for Trout Fun Fishing for All, a special event for anglers of all ages, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025 at Guadalupe River State Park, 3350 Park Rd. 31, Spring Branch.

TPWD’s Inland Fisheries Division in San Marcos will provide the fish. WORD is paying for 500 trout.

The event is free with park admission and $7 for adults. Admission is free for children ages 12 and under.

A fishing license is not required for anyone 17 and older. A limited supply of loaner fishing rods and tackle will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants should bring their own drinking water and sun protection and wear sturdy shoes.

Anglers are asked to meet at the river below the Day Use parking lot. Day-use reservations are highly recommended to ensure entrance into the park.
