2020 Graduating Hawks Will Walk the Stage After All

Each graduate will be allotted five guest tickets for the ceremony at Canyon Lake High School stadium.

Canyon Lake High School’s 2020 graduates will get a chance to walk the stage after all.

Comal ISD announced last week that ceremonies are scheduled for 8 p.m. June 4 at the school’s stadium, 8555 Farm to Market 32, Fischer.

Superintendent Andrew Kim said Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines limit tickets to five per student.

Ceremonies also will be broadcast live for family and friends unable to attend. A virtual graduation ceremony is still planned for each campus on Saturday, May 30.

Kim said more details will become available this week about parking, seating, and general health guidelines.

Last Tuesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that starting June 1, school districts would be allowed to hold outdoor graduation ceremonies that followed TEA guidelines.

“Since his announcement, we have been reviewing these guidelines and developing a plan that will allow us to hold graduation at each of our high school stadiums in a manner that protects the health and safety of our students, staff and families,” Kim said in a statement.

Graduation ceremonies for Memorial Early College High School are scheduled for 8 p.m. June 2 at CLHS. Canyon High School follows at 8 p.m. June 3 at CLHS.

Comal Academy seniors will participate in graduation ceremonies with their home campus.
