New Braunfels beekeeper Charlie Agar, now nationally famous for the PBS reality TV show “Charlie Bee Company,” is the featured speaker at Lindheimer Chapter Texas Master Naturalist’s February Webex meeting, 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

To watch online, visit Texas Parks & Wildlife’s website by clicking here. Non-members are asked to email LindheimerMNContact@gmail.com for more information. The meeting is open to the public.

Agar got his first hive of bees in 2013, but when he started doing nuisance hive removals in 2014 his beekeeping work blossomed into a sideline business.

Today he does bee removals, manages 150 colonies, and helps landowners all across Central Texas.

“I’m a ‘sideliner’ beekeeper with over 100 hives, meaning that beekeeping is an income generator for me, but working with bees is more than just a revenue stream these days; working hives has been my connection with nature, a touchstone to the physical world, and a way to get into the present moment in strange times,” Agar posted to his blog on charliebee.com on Feb. 1.

Agar lives in New Braunfels with wife Kaye, their three dogs and backyard chickens.

He said he was “dragged against his will” to a beekeeping class in Idaho in 2013. He moved to Texas in 2014 and started doing nuisance hive removals.

Today, Agar owns and operates FrontRow Multimedia, a video production and marketing company based in New Braunfels.
