Comal County continues to see an uptick in COVID-19 cases, reporting 96 new virus cases today, up from the 53 added last week and 41 the week before.
The numbers reported in today’s press release from Public Information Officer Cary Zayas are for the seven days between May 6 to May 12.
No new deaths were reported today. The total number of deceased remains at 551. The total number of cases reported since March 2020 now stands at 30,985.
One COVID-positive person is hospitalized. Some 64.7% of county residents are fully vaccinated (two shots).
This upward trend aligns with the numbers released by Texas’ Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on May 11.
The positivity rate and the number of new cases statewide continue to rise, although hospitalizations and fatalities remain low and stable, DSHS said.
Seven-day averages rose from 1,337 for the week of April 28 to May 4 to 2,021 for the week of May 5 to May 11.
The county’s health department administers Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and up. Booster vaccines also are available. to schedule an appointment, call 830-221-1150.
