Comal ISD trustees are asking the public for feedback as the district searches for a replacement for former Supt. Andrew Kim, who resigned unexpectedly on June 8.
Friday, the district launched an online Superintendent Search Survey. Residents have until Aug. 7 to complete the survey.

A community meeting also is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 10 at Smithson Valley High School, 14001 Highway 46, Spring Branch.
“While we know that we are looking for someone who will build upon the foundation of success already established here in Comal ISD, the board of trustees believes that it is important that we seek input from the community as we search for the district’s next superintendent,” board of trustees President Jason York said in a statement.
Former Supt. Andrew Kim resigned unexpectedly June 8, just four months after receiving a $48,000 pay increase and a contract extension until 2027. He cited personal reasons for his resignation, which followed a budget hearing.
Sources with immediate knowledge of the situation said Comal ISD’s board of trustees met until 2:30 a.m. before announcing Kim’s resignation, which won’t be effective until Set. 30.
Trustees appointed Mandy Epley, the district’s assistant superintendent of Strategic Initiatives and Programs, to serve as interim superintendent for the district.
