Authorities are trying to get to the bottom of what really happened in the death of a 36-year-old Mexican national found dead Wednesday from a gunshot wound in a home in the 100 block of Navigator Lane in Spring Branch.
The death was reported Wednesday by 53-year-old Eve Escobedo, who called the Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to advise them of a shooting death on Tuesday.
According to CCSO Spokesperson Jennifer Smith, she said the unidentified man’s death was the result of a “domestic dispute.”
CCSO and Texas Rangers responded to Escobedo’s call and found the deceased lying on a bathroom floor.
“Throughout the initial investigation the female suspect changed the circumstances of how the shooting occurred several times,” Smith said.
Escobedo had attempted to clean up the area where the shooting occurred and also removed evidence.
A warrant was issued for tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair, and Escobedo was booked into county jail on Wednesday. Bail is set at $50,000.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Justice of the Peace Tom Clark ordered an autopsy.
