Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) is increasing the release rate from Canyon Lake reservoir to 107 cubic feet-per-second (cfs) through Aug. 23.

By increasing flow rates the agency hopes to meet its customers’ downstream water-supply demands.

GBRA said property owners, recreationalists and other stakeholders should take notice of the changing river flows.

According to the popular Tubing the Guadalupe Facebook page this makes August a great month for  tubers:

“Good news, to meet its obligations to downstream water right holders GBRA has increased flows out of Canyon to around 100 cfs. That is only 66% of the amount that typically flows this time of year, but it is the highest flow we have seen in many weeks. The release out of Canyon should stay right at 100 cfs through the 22nd.”

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is currently releasing water at a rate of 82 cfs.

GBRA, a water conservation-and-reclamation district, is a public corporation responsible for water resources in its 10-county statutory district.
