Canyon Lake’s popular Overlook Park will remain closed through January, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) said Monday.
Outdoor enthusiasts can access the top of the dam via North Park Road — but parking there is limited to only six vehicles.
USACE closed the park on Nov. 7 to make security enhancements and parking improvements. It was expected to reopen this week.
Canyon Lake Manager Javier Pérez Ortiz said USACE also is adding a new exit lane.
“We understand access to the area is important to our visiting public, but we must provide a safe environment for our visitors and in order to ensure their safety we will be restricting access until the work is complete,” he said.
USACE encourages recreationists to check out the Madrone or John Hancock trails to exercise and enjoy Canyon Lake’s unique scenery.
