The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will spend early to mid-May cleaning up and repairing Canyon Lake roadways.
Comal County Pct. 4 Commissioner Jen Crownover urges residents to use the drivetexas.org map to avoid delays caused by these seasonal repairs.
“It’s interactive, and people can see the real-time updates anywhere in the state,” she said. “Great for local information and road-trip planning, too.”
TxDOT already has entered information about roadway repairs into the system and will activate it the day of each closure.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect when — and where — in the Canyon Lake area:
- Through April 27 – Base repair on FM 306 from South Access Road to Clear Water Estates, downed tree-limb removal FM 2673 (ice event cleanup), and continue various patching operations.
- May 1-May 5 – Continue and finish repairs on FM 306 from South Access Road to Clear Water Estates (should finish by May 2), continue downed tree-limb removal on FM 2673 (ice event cleanup), begin seal coat operations on FM 306 from Gruene Haven to FM 3424 (should finish by May 4), and continue various patching operations.
- May 8-May 12 – Continue seal-coat operations on FM 306 from Gruene Haven to FM 3424 (should finish by May 9), continue downed tree-limb removal on RM 32 (ice event cleanup), and continue various patching operations.
- May 15-19 – Continue downed tree-limb removal on RM 32 (ice event cleanup), continue various patching operations, and all other operations in southeast Comal County.
TxDOT told Crownover that all operations will have traffic control including flagging operations and mobile operations with truck-mounted attenuators. Message boards have been placed on FM 306 ahead of the planned closures to provide advance warning about road construction.
