A Canyon Lake man was allegedly shot and killed in the 400 block of Deer Valley Street on Tuesday by a woman who claimed she was in a physical altercation with her boyfriend.
Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) spokesperson Jennifer Smith said deputies responding to a call from the woman arrived at the scene and found 62-year-old Edward Canales lying on the ground from an apparent gunshot wound.
Deputies and first responders with Canyon Lake Fire/EMS attempted to perform life-saving measures but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Tom Clark.
Detectives with CCSO and the Texas Rangers are investigating.
An autopsy has been ordered. Next of kin has been notified.

She’d bragged about killing snakes with shotguns. This is heavy. These people kill Elders even if I can’t prove it. Pits are loose and kids running from them & we know kids can’t take on upset pits much less Elders. I never saw this Edward except once & he didn’t threaten me like her. She was so upset I gave feed to the deer which I am sure others do. To try to get them to stay on 1one side. Plus, that is why I moved to the place. I could hear People crying for help. She’d go off on me & I called the local Sheriffs who looked at as if…And, I ended up being stop at a Stop sign.
