The search continues today for a 19-year-old San Antonio man who drowned in Canyon Lake Sunday after becoming separated from his tube.
The Texas Game Wardens Aviation Unit flew the search area in a helicopter, and a game warden Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program used a drone to lend additional support to marine and ground crews.
Also aiding in the search for Roiner Alejandro Rojas Pereira are the Comal County Sheriff’s Office’s Deputy Marine Unit and Canyon Lake Fire/EMS.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) Public Information Officer Maggie Berger said no further details are available.
According to witnesses Pereira became separated from the inflatable tube he was on, yelled for help, went under water and did not immediately resurface.
He was last seen drifting toward the water intake near Canyon Lake dam.
TPWD operates a $5 million Airbus AS350B3e Helicopter. The aircraft is outfitted with the latest law enforcement technology and emergency and emergency response equipment including a rescue hoist, thermal imager, searchlight, public address system, satellite communication and night vision.
