Stage 4 critical conditions were declared today by The Texas Water Company. Rules prohibit outdoor water use.

The Texas Water Company (TWC) today said Medina and Comal counties will move from drought Stage 3 to drought Stage 4 water restrictions Tuesday.

All outside water use is prohibited except to sustain livestock under Stage 4 “critical conditions.”

On its website, the company said customers and “necessary officials” will be notified of appropriate actions regarding the problem.

The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA), which sells water from Canyon Lake to commercial users and utilities like TWC, also has implemented Stage 4 restrictions.

Stage 4 restrictions go into effect when Canyon Reservoir is less than 885 feet.

  1. Thank you for these articles. ACT NOW COMAL does a great job with informing people and helping with a call to action. See their facebook page and their posts such as these — The explosive uncontrolled growth of NB is starting to get very real in western New Braunfels along Hwy 46 and FM 1863. A former 400+ acre ranch is being replaced by a proposed 1200+ home high-density neighborhood and a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). This is in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge zone.
The proposed neighborhood is inconsistent with nearby land use in the area (a rural neighborhood with min. 5 acre lots and Copper Ridge with min. 1 acre lots.) The coordinates of the WWTP position it in the 100-year floodplain and very close to the Dry Comal Creek.
With the TCEQ granting WWTP permits to developers who need high density neighborhoods to fund their WWTPs, these types of neighborhoods will be the future up and down the rural highways in western NB.
With significant drought conditions, we should have a heightened sensitivity to rapid high-density growth. If you are concerned and would like to stay informed on this topic, please DM me or email me at mmartin4603@gmail.com.
