Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library’s (TPML) annual book sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.
For $10, readers can buy a shopping bag to fill with books.
Bookstore Manager Connie Howard said the public is welcome to donate books that are in good condition for the sale. Monetary contributions also are welcomed.
The store’s entire inventory of books, DVDs and audio books was donated by the public and by the library itself.
“We would prefer not to receive donations on the day(s) of the annual book sale, but any time before or afterwards is fine,” she said.
The Canyon Lake library, located at 16311 S. Access Rd. by Canyon Lake Gorge, receives most of its funding from half of the one-percent of local sales taxes collected within the Library District.
TPML is not allowed to fundraise. Howard said nonprofit Friends raises funds and accepts donations on the library’s behalf.
“The revenue raised by Friends’ fundraising activities, such as the annual book sale, are used by TPML to develop and maintain programs enriching the educational and cultural needs of our community,” she said.
