New Braunfels’ population grew by 12.49% between 2022-23, making it the second-fastest growing city in the United States according to a survey of 610 cities conducted by SmartAsset.
Silver Spring, Maryland, topped the list with a 12.86% one-year change in total population.
New Braunfels’ total population — inside city limits — now stands at 110,961, a 30% increase over the last five years.
Despite relative decreases in the elderly and youth population, the number of people aged 20 to 54 grew by 21.96% in New Braunfels, SmartAsset said.
Other Texas cities listed in SmartAssets’s top 15 cities are Georgetown, which grew by 11.34% from 2022-23, and Conroe, with a 6.73% increase.
“Population shifts in a community can bring about a variety of interwoven economic and social impacts,” Jaclyn DeJohn with SmartAsset said. “The magnitude of the population change can affect demand for businesses and services, which in turn may impact costs – or even the availability of such amenities.”
SmartAsset released the survey results Nov. 7 on its website. The company provides online tools to help users make better financial decisions.
