Comal ISD will not close schools Thursday, the district said in a statement today.

After participating in a call with the U.S. National Weather Service, the district learned the threat of inclement weather is “greatly diminished.”

“The district will continue to monitor the weather for the remainder of the week as this current weather system pushes through our area,” Comal ISD said.

Any updates will be posted on social media and via media outlets.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Hill Country and southern Edwards Plateau, the U.S. National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio said today.

Comal County is not included in the watch area.

Outside of light icing across the Hill Country, cold rain is forecast for much of the area Thursday through Friday morning.

Near widespread rainfall amounts between half an inch to  2 inches are forecast, with heavier amounts along and east of the I-35 corridor.
