Rep. Carrie Isaac, the Republican who represents Canyon Lake in Texas House District 73, today filed a resolution asking the Texas legislature to designate April as Promise Month to “honor God’s promises of love and guidance, recognizing the vital role of faith in our state’s history and future.”
The faith she wants to honor is Christianity.
Isaac said she deliberately filed the resolution near Candlemas, a Christian holiday associated with light.
Candlemas, celebrated annually on Feb. 2, commemorates the presentation of Jesus Christ in the Temple of Jerusalem 40 days after his birth.
According to HCR 59, the Declaration of Independence “clearly reveals that the United States was established with faith in God, recognizing His authority and providence over our Land. Texas continues to uphold this vision by honoring the foundational role of faith in our state’s history and future.”
Monday, Isaac filed a resolution redesignating Dripping Springs as the Wedding Capital of Texas.
Isaac is a member of the Texas House’s Freedom Caucus. Her platform includes alleviating property taxes, election integrity issues and border security.
During the 88th legislative session she secured a Texas budget rider defunding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in higher education.
Isaac beat Democrat Sally Duval in the November 2024 General Election, capturing 71.5% of the vote in her district, which includes Comal County and part of Hays County.
She has served in the Texas House since 2023 and is up for reelection in 2026.
How about addressing the governor’s priority legislation and the budget instead of waisting time on fluff?
