Comal County commissioners today approved a donation of three sets of bleachers for the Jumbo Evans Sports Park in Spring Branch.
Dripping Springs-based KMI Sports Construction, which installed turf at the park’s six fields, will move existing bleachers at fields A, C and D to fields E and F and replace them with new bleachers.
The total estimated value for the bleachers and their installation is $30,500.
KMI will provide all materials, oversee construction, and certify that everything is built correctly.
“This is great and I’m excited for the community,” Pct. 4 Commissioner Jen Crownover said.
County engineer Robert Boyd said the Bulverde Little League approached the county several weeks ago about accepting the proposed donation.
Also at today’s weekly meeting, commissioners approved grant proposals for specialty courts, juvenile justice initiatives, truancy programs and public health efforts.
Commissioners approved a donation of 4,200 tons of recycled asphalt pavement from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The surplus material is located at FM 311 and FM 3159, FM 2673 in Startzville/Canyon Lake, FM 1102 and Hunter Road, FM 1102 @Havenwood and FM 1102 @Orion.
Boyd said the county will use the recycled asphalt to “shoulder up” roadways.
