There were no layoffs at the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) Austin-San Antonio’s New Braunfels office today.

NWS meteorologist Constantine Pashos said the local office was not affected by today’s mass firings by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Other weather forecasters and experts with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weren’t as lucky.

The Associated Press (AP) reports hundreds of “probationary” forecasters and other employees with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) were let go.
