“Boating is full speed ahead — water levels won’t spoil the fun,” promises Suntex Marinas General Manager Jay Patel, who oversees Canyon Lake’s two private marinas.

He said Canyon Lake’s water levels “support boating enjoyment” at the company’s Canyon Lake and Cranes Mill marinas.

Both marinas are operational and all activities, including boat rentals, slips, and club memberships, are available.

Slips are maintained at full float. Both marinas moved into deeper water last year.

“At Suntex Marinas, our priority is to provide an exceptional boating experience for our customers,” said Patel. “We recognize that water levels fluctuate throughout the year and we are committed to managing these dynamics responsibly.”

Due to increased demand for on-the-water activities, securing a boat slip or club membership in advance is recommended, he said.

Pontoon boats, ski boats, Boston Whaler fishing boats, wave runners, paddle boards and kayaks are available for rent at the marinas.

However, Canyon Lake’s current elevation is 878.9 feet, a record low. Normal elevation is 909 feet. The lake is 47.7% full.

Reactions to Patel’s recent posts were mainly negative.

“What a joke, no ramp to launch boats here and the lake is so low I wouldn’t ride a rented boat on the water,” said one. “Good luck with this venture.”

“All you need is water…lol,” posted another on social media.

All Canyon Lake boat ramps are closed. Only non-motorized watercraft can launch from boat ramps operated by Comal County and the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD).

Comal and Canyon parks, operated by WORD, have boat ramps and shorelines for launching nonmotorized vessels.

Jet skis, kayaks and standup paddle boards also are available for rent from private companies in both parks.
