Raging Guadalupe River floodwaters engulfed the Rebecca Creek Bridge in Spring Branch Saturday afternoon, leaving storm debris piled up at one end of the bridge.

Pct. 1 Comal County Commissioner Doug Leecock said the bridge is barricaded and will remain closed indefinitely until a thorough inspection can be completed.

Guadalupe River bridges at FM 311 and Highway 281 remain open.

Rebecca Creek bridge is the “take-out” point for the Nichol’s Landing Paddling Trail operated by WORD of Comal County.

The bridge was in good condition before the flood, although a 2023 National Bridge Inventory inspection report noted river-control devices and embankment protection had minor damage, and minor stream-bed movement was evident. Debris restricted the channel slightly.
