Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office’s Jason Mangold encourages local hay producers to participate in the 2025 Comal County Fair Hay Show Sept. 23-25.
Entries will be accepted from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1-5 p.m. weekdays, through Sept. 2, at the extension service’s Comal County office, 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels.
Types of hay include Bermuda grass, other warm-season perennial grass, warm-season annual grass, cool-season grass, and legumes.
Square bales must consist of three flakes (or at least eight inches wide). Round bales should be the size of a carton of paper (12 inches wide by 18 inches long) filled, stuffed, and tied on the outside of the box with at least three strands of string going both ways.
Untied samples will be disqualified.
