Comal County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 3 paramedic Danielle Meyers today joined a growing list of pilots, teachers, college professors, and workers, nationwide, who have been suspended or summarily dismissed for making online comments about the Sept. 10 murder of right-wing conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk.
In a statement released today, Fire Chief Robert Mikel said Meyers was terminated after an investigation involving allegations related to “inappropriate social-media activity” that enraged hundreds of right-leaning Canyon Lake residents who believe her left-leaning beliefs might endanger their safety in an emergency.
“Ms. Meyers is no longer employed with the department,” said Fire Chief Robert Mikel in a statement.
“Canyon Lake Fire/EMS remains steadfast in its mission to protect this community with honor and respect, safeguarding the trust that is essential between our first responders and the public.”
After learning of Kirk’s death, Danielle Meyers Sept. 10 posted on Facebook, “Good riddance. Thoughts and prayers to the other guy.”
As those comments quickly gained traction, she added: “lol wow. Already. I’m impressed. Less than an hour. Y’all are quick. Somebody tattled to mommy and daddy.”
In an interview with MyCanyonLake.com, Mikel said the department has pre-existing social-media policies that Meyers violated, although he declined to share details, citing the confidential nature of the investigation and adding there might be other factors involved in her termination.
During their investigation, he said Canyon Lake Fire/EMS followed the same procedures it does with every other disciplinary matter.
Mikel said he couldn’t respond to emails from the public but also wanted to conduct an investigation independent of public opinion.
“I thought it was important that we stick to our values,” he said.
The department’s other firefighters were praised for their calm in the wake of the firestorm.
“I’m very proud that they also showed great restraint and didn’t devolve into the social-media bantering back and forth,” he said.
“This is what you want in someone that’s going to respond to emergencies.”
Charles Richard, president of the Canyon Lake Professional Firefighters Association Local 4713, also issued a statement today:
“We understand the community’s concerns about the recent social-media commentary of a former member of the Canyon Lake Fire Department. In recent days, we have monitored developments in this incident. Our association does not represent the former member at this time. We also recognize the challenges of balancing employee rights with the prevention of disruptions of emergency services operations.
“We thank Fire Chief Robert Mikel and our emergency services district commissioners for keeping us informed as this incident evolved. Our confidence in the fire chief, the ESD commissioners, and the county leadership remains strong.
“This incident reaffirms our promise to always deliver excellent service, be good stewards of community resources and give back to the community. We will not waver in our solemn duty to serve with professionalism and compassion.
“We appreciate the continued support of the Comal County officers we serve.”
(Editor’s note: This article was updated at 5 p.m. to include Richard’s statement.)
I disagreed with many statements made by Charlie Kirk, but not for even a fleeting moment did I feel joy when he was killed. He has a right to his opinion, as do I. If you rejoiced in his death, you are not the type of person I want to be around. You would not be welcome in my home, or around my family. People need to learn we can disagree without being disagreeable. I suggest if you believe murder is acceptable over a difference of opinion, seeking professional mental health guidance should be a top priority.
To the people who insist Charlie Kirk was racist:
How was he racist? Because he called Transgenderism make-believe? Because he called it a psych disorder (it actually is per the ICD-10 Diagnosis of F64 & related Dx)? Because he didn’t believe in victimization nor illegal immigration? Charlie Kirk was one of the most honest people in our society and he called it as he saw it all the while debating and trying to help people out. What I saw of his debates in the progressive college campuses, there wasn’t a racist bone in society.
Its no wonder why democrats are wound up with this because this describes a large portion of their voter-base and goes against the narrative being pushed by them.
Okay let’s look at some of Charlie Kirks comments
On race
If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified.

If you’re a WNBA, pot-smoking, Black lesbian, do you get treated better than a United States marine?
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 8 December 2022
Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 19 May 2023
If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 3 January 2024
If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.

On gender, feminism and reproductive rights

On gun violence
I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.
– Event organized by TPUSA Faith, the religious arm of Kirk’s conservative group Turning Point USA, on 5 April 2023
On immigration
America was at its peak when we halted immigration for 40 years and we dropped our foreign-born percentage to its lowest level ever. We should be unafraid to do that.
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 22 August 2025
The American Democrat party hates this country. They wanna see it collapse. They love it when America becomes less white.
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 20 March 2024
The great replacement strategy, which is well under way every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different.

On Islam
America has freedom of religion, of course, but we should be frank: large dedicated Islamic areas are a threat to America.
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 30 April 2025
We’ve been warning about the rise of Islam on the show, to great amount of backlash. We don’t care, that’s what we do here. And we said that Islam is not compatible with western civilization.
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 24 June 2025
Islam is the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America.
– Charlie Kirk social media post, 8 September 2025
On religion
There is no separation of church and state. It’s a fabrication, it’s a fiction, it’s not in the constitution. It’s made up by secular humanists.

So what were you saying about him not being a white supremacist and Christian nationalist???
I love how some people getting angry about a post on a personal social media account and now all of a sudden the fire chief decides to fire the employee in question while not being able to specifically mention which policy they violated but at the same time insist that they violated a policy that they can’t name publicly, this is a political witch Hunt and until we stop allowing People’s first amendment rights to be stepped on the only thing we should be asking is who’s going to be next????
Dare I say, “Good Riddance”. The irony is palpable….
