Near critical fire-weather conditions will develop today due to gusty north winds and low humidity, the U.S. National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio said in an advisory issued today.

A Fire Danger Statement is in effect from noon through 8 p.m.

The public is advised to follow local burn bans, avoid outdoor burning, driving on dry grass and any activities that could cause sparks.
