Comal County’s Road Department will treat driveways leading to Canyon Lake Fire/EMS stations and other known “trouble spots” including north-facing hills and bridges.

Spokesperson Cary Zayas said crews are on standby, monitoring conditions, and will treat additional areas as-needed.

“This is not meant to alarm anyone,” she said. “We simply want to keep you informed as severe weather approaches our county so you can plan ahead and stay safe.”

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 to noon Sunday, Jan. 25. Travel may become dangerous.

Garden Ridge Mayor Lisa Swint attended the Comal County Winter Weather Response Meeting today and said Comal County’s Emergency Operations Center is at Level 3.

Officials will decide Saurday morning weather to raise the threat level to 2 or 1, which would allow for more staffing and greater resources.
