The drill is designed to evaluate the reliability and performance of public warning systems used during severe weather and other emergencies.
These systems provide critical, time-sensitive information for residents.
“Testing helps ensure these systems function properly, strengthens coordination among agencies, and prepares residents to recognize and respond to emergency alerts,” Comal County Public Information Officer Cary Zayas said in a statement Thursday.
The statewide drill is coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).
