Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) offers free swim lessons for anyone ages four and up Tuesdays and Thursdays May 26-June 4 at Canyon Park on Canyon Lake.
The lessons are designed to teach kids and adults to swim confidently in open water under the guidance of certified instructors.
May is National Water Safety Month, an annual campaign highlighting crucial drowning prevention and water safety education as swimming activity increases.
“Swimming in open water is very different from swimming in a pool, which is why these free lessons are designed to help participants of all ages build confidence and learn important safety skills in a real lake environment,” WORD said in a Facebook post.
Each session consists of four comprehensive lessons over a two-week period.
Spots are limited. For more information visit gatoraquatics.org/canyon-lake.
