Comal ISD was named a Texas Way District of Distinction for the 2025-26 school year by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) and the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA).
Only 39 districts were honored for their exceptional commitment to sportsmanship, character, and excellence in competition.
The Texas Way initiative emphasizes respect, self-control, and the spirit of competition.
To qualify for the District of Distinction designation, the Athletics Department met rigorous benchmarks, including implementing character education programs, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, and performing community service.
“We are honored to be named a Texas Way District of Distinction,” said Brian Martinez, director of athletics. “Our coaches and athletes strive to embody the three pillars that make up this award, and their work has not gone unnoticed by our fans and our communities.”
Canyon Lake High School athletes spearheaded a drive to raise money and collect needed items for flood victims in Kerrville and Hunt.
Students at Canyon High School used their annual Cougar Christmas to adopt students and provide them with gifts.
Davenport High School athletes took time to read to elementary students, hosted a diaper-derby baskeball game and raised money for a women’s center.
Pieper High School athletes opened car doors every Friday for elementary campuses in their feeder zones.
Smithson Valley High School athletes read to elementary students.
