The McKenna Foundation today awarded a three-year, $150,000 grant to Rebecca Creek Christian Ministries (RCCM) to pay for an on-campus early learning center for children ages 18 months to 4 years.

Funds will be used to expand RCCM’s Inspiring Hearts Day School, increasing access to affordable, high-quality childcare for families in far west Comal County.

McKenna CEO Alice Jewell said the partnership represents one of the foundation’s first major steps in advancing its Early Childhood Development Work Plan.

“We are thrilled to have RCCM actively engaged in Early Matters New Braunfels and a part of its steering committee,’ she said.

RCCM Founder and Chairman Pastor James Leinneweber said the expansion will increase childcare capacity to more than 40 seats for children ages 18 months to four years.

“Our vision is to ensure that families no longer have to choose between quality childcare and financial stability,” he said.

RCCM is a faith-based, community-focused organization whose ministries include Renewed Hope, a biblical counseling center; Helping Hands Food Pantry; Inspiring Hearts Day School; and the Wellness-on-Wheels trailer, provided by Acacia Medical Mission, to serve the uninsured.
