As of around noon today, Comal County first responders are actively working on several water rescues, and 32 county roads are now closed due to continued heavy rain.

The county remains under a flash flood warning until 3 p.m.

County spokesperson Cary Zayas said two to four feet of water covers roadways in some areas.

Precinct 1 Constable Charlie Motz advises Canyon Lake residents to add extra time to their drive, stay off cellphones, slow down on wet roadways, increase following distance and never pass a barricade — even if you think it’s safe.

“It may not be, and it could get you arrested,” he said on social media. “Just because a barricade isn’t blocking a low-water crossing doesn’t mean it’s safe. Even a small amount of water over the road can sweep a car away.”

Expect closures of some parks and facilities like The Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country.

The City of New Braunfels temporarily closed access to the Comal River for all recreational activities.

The city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains activated and swift-water rescue teams with the New Braunfels Fire Department are prepared to repond if needed.

Squad units have been converted to high-water vehicles to enhance emergency-response capabilities. City crews are pre-positioning barricades in flood-prone areas to facilitate road closures should conditions warrant.
