AgriLife Announces DIY Saturday Schedule

Share
Connie Sheppard, agent for family and community health, will teach a class on growing herbs next Saturday at Comal County office of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

Learn how to grow herbs this month at the Comal County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

The office’s next DIY Saturday class runs from 9 to 11 a.m. March 14  and focuses on herbs, especially how to plant and care for them even if you don’t have the yard or the weather for them.

“This can be the year you finally take the plunge into herbs,” said Connie Sheppard, agent for family and community health with the Comal County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. “We’ll give you tips on how to make your herb garden a success – and make your meals taste great all year long.”

The cost is $15 per person. Attendees can register and get more information by calling 830-620-3440. The class requires a minimum size, so students are encouraged to call ahead to make sure it will still take. Sheppard and fellow extension agent Jymann Davis will teach the class.

DIY Saturday is a monthly series of classes organized by the Comal County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and designed to provide homeowners, backyard gardeners, homemakers, educators and farmers do-it-yourself learning opportunities.

The rest of the 2020 DIY Saturday schedule is:

• April 18: Rainwater harvesting
• May 9: Grilling 101
• June 13: Canning
• July 11: Cooking well with diabetes
• Aug. 8: Explore 4-H
• Sept. 12: AgriFest
• Oct. 10: Fall Family Day
• Nov. 14: Everything but Salt
