All Canyon Lake boat ramps are closed indefinitely while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) and Comal County continue to evaluate conditions in Canyon Lake, which was only 45% full when floodwaters from the Guadalupe River surged into the lake over the weekend, creating a huge debris field, dangerously swift currents and rising bacteria levels that may be unsafe.
Much of the area remains under a boil-water notice.
Canyon Lake’s elevation rose from 878 feet on Saturday to 889 feet today, Tuesday, July 8. The lake is almost 63% full and continues to rise.
Before July 4, all boat ramps (except for Canyon Lake Marina) were closed to motorized vessels due to drought, but open for swimming, fishing and launching non-motorized vessels like kayaks or paddleboards.
Today’s decision closes boat ramps completely to the public.

Even if the ramps were open, ai wouldn’t take any of my “powered” watercraft on this lake or any other waterways affected by the flood. Have no interest in putting a hole in my hulls or losing a lower unit. For all the floating debris there is, there’s at least that much that’s partially submerged and we don’t see it. It needs time.
These people are idiots at a level I can’t even comprehend. They’ll gladly bankrupt every business on the lake and tell them it’s for their own good and the safety of everyone involved and then turn around and sue all of them for unpaid property taxes so they can seize the property to sell to people who think more like New Braunfels. Canyon Lake has always had and independent streak and the brain dead idiots that run both Comal County and WORD are bound and determined to destroy all of it in the name of forward progress. It’s a shame, 10 years ago when I moved to Canyon Lake it was actually a great place to live and a great community to be a part of, and in many ways it still is, unfortunately, it’s also slowly becoming everything we moved out to the lake to get away from.
Is it just me or is the individual smiling in the picture happy that the boat damps or closed or what why is there even a person in this pic?
“rising bacteria levels that may be unsafe.

We’re not drinking this we’re boating. If we started closing lakes in Texas because of bacteria., Most lakes in Texas would have to close.
WORD has way too much control over this lake. Comal county and WORD seem to be doing everything in there power to destroy the local business that depend on this lake. Imagine a lake still over 100 foot in depth closed all summer even before the rains. And now that it rains let’s close the lake. It’s obvious Comal county could care less about the revenue this lake provides. II have lived in seven states and been living by lakes the entire time and have never seen a more mismanaged lake period.
Why hasn’t there been posted notices to boil water?
