All Canyon Lake boat ramps are closed indefinitely while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) and Comal County continue to evaluate conditions in Canyon Lake, which was only 45% full when floodwaters from the Guadalupe River surged into the lake over the weekend, creating a huge debris field, dangerously swift currents and rising bacteria levels that may be unsafe.

Much of the area remains under a boil-water notice.

Canyon Lake’s elevation rose from 878 feet on Saturday to 889 feet today, Tuesday, July 8. The lake is almost 63% full and continues to rise.

Before July 4, all boat ramps (except for Canyon Lake Marina) were closed to motorized vessels due to drought, but open for swimming, fishing and launching non-motorized vessels like kayaks or paddleboards.

Today’s decision closes boat ramps completely to the public.
