Annual 9-11 Freedom Walk Across Canyon Lake Dam Set for Friday

Share
The walk honors those who gave their lives for freedom as well as first responders and active-duty military.

Canyon Lakes’s annual 9-11 Freedom Walk across Canyon Lake Dam begins at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11 at Overlook Park.

The walk follows an opening ceremony commemorating those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001 after terrorists crashed three hijacked airliners into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field, killing 2,977 people.

Carolyn Besselman, president of the Canyon Lake Repubilcan Women, said the walk honors those who have given their lives for freedom, those who have served as first responders, and those currently serving in the U.S. military.

Attendees are asked to wear red, white and blue clothing. Water bottles will be provided.
