Republican Ashley Evans, a court administrator for Comal County Court at Law #2 Judge Charles Stephens, today said she will run against Comal County insurance adjustor Mike Britt in the March 2022 Republican primary for Comal County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace.
The filing deadline for the March 2022 Republican primary is Dec. 13.
Incumbent Jennifer Saunders announced Nov. 23 that she was stepping down after 20 years, ending a career in Comal County that began in 1979 when she went to work as a court clerk.
Evans said her background in various county offices over the last 16 years makes her qualified to serve as Canyon Lake’s justice of the peace.
She worked in Washington County’s district attorney and district clerk offices before moving to New Braunfels in 2010 and working for Comal County District Attorney Jennifer Tharp.
“I believe that in any elected position the titleholder works for the people she represents,” Evans said in a statement. “She should be accountable and accessible to her community. I have strong Christian conservative values and am known as someone who makes things happen and gets the job done. I have never met a stranger, and no matter the circumstance, I treat people with dignity and respect.
“If elected to Justice of the Peace, this is what the people of Precinct #4 can expect,” she said. “Judge Saunders has set a high bar, and I am hopeful to continue her legacy in our community.”
Evans and husband Joey, who works in law enforcement are the parents of two children who keep the family busy at Awana Club at Oakwood Church, New Braunfels Little League, New Braunfels Youth Soccer League and Surge Aquatics.
