CLHS Named Top Team at Chess Tournament

Canyon Lake High School's Chess Team was named Top Team at the third and final districtwide chess tournament on March 23. Three juniors placed first, second and third.
Students from Startzville Elementary, Rebecca Creek Elementary, Mountain Valley Middle School, and Canyon Lake High School performed well at Comal Independent School District’s third and final districtwide chess tournament on March 23.
More than 300 students competed for top individual honors in four age groups, along with campus participation and top campus team honors.
Kinder through Second-Grade Category
First-grader Jake Wadle of Rebecca Creek Elementary placed third.
Third through Fifth-Grade Category
Fifth-grader Catcher Visser of Startzville Elmentary placed second.
Sixth through Eighth-Grade Category
Sixth-grader Erick Ortiz of Mountain Valley Middle School placed third.
Ninth through 12th-Grade Category
Junior Timothy Fowler of Canyon Lake High School (CLHS) placed first.
Junior Dylan Sandau of CLHS placed second.
Junior Alexander Jones of CLHS placed third.
