Ban on Cans Is Back
Share

Yes, you can drink on the Guadalupe and Comal rivers.
You can drink whatever you’d like — beer, wine, any other alcoholic beverage, juice, water and sports drinks.
But if you’re floating either river inside New Braunfels city limits, all beverages must be in non-disposable containers. The same goes for food containers.
The can ban is back.
There are no new rules on the Guadalupe River above Gruene Bridge.
No-can-do’s for both rivers include glass, foam coolers, no plastic containers of five ounces or less, no littering, and no jumping from bridges, dams, trees and cliffs.
If you’re floating the Comal or Guadaupe rivers below Gruene Bridge, remember the rule is one cooler (16 quarts or less) with a locking mechanism per person. Noise devices may not be audible beyond 50 feet.
On the Comal River only, inflatable flotation devices are limited to two pr person. They are not to exceed five feet in length or width.
