The Community Resource and Recreation Center closed its books for the San Antonio area’s Sept. 23 #BigGive2021 on Sunday, raising over $62,000 in funds with the help of “matching minutes.”

The charity powerhouse ranked 15 out of 425 nonprofits on the Big Give’s leaderboard today, raising more money with the help of 124 donors than any other Canyon Lake-area charity except St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, which brought in $104,441 through the support of 209 donors.

“It was our biggest Big Give ever,” said CRRC Executive Director Jason Derscheid. “A big piece of that was our board and local volunteers putting together a match challenge.”

Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library raised over $18,000 during the 24-hour Big Give, placing number six in its budget category.

“We are overwhelmed with the level of support exhibited by our community,” said Susan Bogle, president of the board of the Canyon Lake Community Library District. “People are extraordinarily generous and we truly appreciate their help, which will enable the library to build for the future.”

TPML ranked number 62 on the Big Give leaderboard with 109 donors.

Comal County Conservation Alliance raised $11,951 and CASA of Central Texas brought in $11,695.

The Big Give is South Central Texas’ 24-hour online day of online giving. According to organizers, it supports local nonprofits committed to making South Central Texas a great place to live, work and play.
