Boat Registration Now Available Through Comal County Tax Office

Comal County Tax Assessor-Collector Kristen Hoyt said residents can now renew their boat registration at the Tax Office.
Speaking at Commissioners Court Thursday, she thanked Motor Vehicle Supervisor Celina Morales for her efforts in bringing the service to Comal County.
Until this week, residents had to drive to the Guadalupe Tax Office or even San Antonio to renew their registration through Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).
“We officially did our first boat registration on Tuesday,” Hoyt said. “As you know this is something that’s been coming for a long time and something I was passionate about as I was running. To see this kind of come to fruition is super exciting to me and to the Tax Office.”
Morales said the Tax Office can’t perform title transfers yet but is working towards providing the service.
Renewals are not limited to county residents. Anyone with a Texas driver’s license can visit the county’s three offices in Bulverde, 30470 Cougar Bend; New Braunfels, 205 N. Seguin Ave.; and Canyon Lake, 160 Oak Dr. (next to VFW Post 8573 ).
The service is not available online.
To renew registration, bring a Texas driver’s license and “TX” license registration number for the boat. The county can look up registration or ownership information online.
The fee is $53. Payments can be made in cash, check or by credit card.
