The Texas Water Company (TWC) today rescinded boil-water notices for most of its Canyon Lake, Blanco and Bulverde-area customers.

As of 4 p.m., Deer Creek remains under a boil-water notice due to low disinfectant levels. It is unclear whether the boil-water notice for the Rebecca Creek community water systems was lifted due to conflicting information on TWC’s website.

TWC said it took the necessary “corrective actions” to restore the quality of water and provided the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) with test results indicating water no longer requires boiling prior to use.

TCEQ sets minimum water-quality standards for public drinking water. The boil-water issue notice was issued Sunday, July 6.

“Due to the severe flooding along the Guadalupe River, our Park Shores Treatment Plant experienced a significant influx of debris and sediment into Canyon Lake,” the company said in a statement. “This resulted in elevated turbidity levels at the intake to our treatment plant. In response, and in accordance with regulatory requirements, a boil-water notice (BWN) was issued as a mandate to protect public health.”

The California-based utility said water quality now meets all state safety standards for these subdivisions and the City of Blanco:

Before using water for cooking or drinking, residential customers should run cold water from all taps for at least one minute, flush ice makers (making and discarding three batches of ice), flush water fountains and refrigerator lines, and regenerate water softeners before using water from affected fixtures.

TWC operates 48 active wells, five wastewater facilities, three surface-water plants, 86 pump stations, and 676 miles of water mains in its 250-square-mile Texas service area.
