Hundreds of people are expected to turn out in Dripping Springs Saturday for an unofficial town hall organized by a grassroots coalition of constituents who feel their congressman, U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-21), isn’t responsive to their concerns.

Roy represents Canyon Lake and Comal County in Congressional District 21.

U.S. House representatives are under fire nationwide as constituents pack regularly scheduled town halls to demand answers about elected officials’ efforts to push back on aspects of President Donald Trump’s cost-cutting agenda that impact their lives.

The last town hall scheduled by Roy was in 2021, according to his website.

However, organizers of Saturday’s event said Roy’s most recent town hall was over the phone on Feb. 27 and involved no interaction with the congressman other than a static image on a computer screen.

In a press release, organizers of Saturday’s event said Roy has ignored multiple requests to attend. The event starts at noon at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Dr., Dripping Springs.

Dripping Springs is Roy’s hometown.

Democratic Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’s 35th Congressional District, agreed to speak in Roy’s absence.

His district runs down I-35 from east Austin to Hays County to the west side of San Antonio.

Roy’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MyCanyonLake.com.
