CACCC Recognized for Bedroom Makeover

Share

Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County (CACCC) was named a top three finalist for the 2017 Woman of Courage/My Safe Space Room Makeover project.

CACCC redecorated the room of a little girl abused in that bedroom through a grant provided to the My Safe Space Initiative by Women of Courage.

Forty-four other advocacy centers also participated in the program, which helps children begin to heal from sexual and/or physical abuse by redecorating and renovating the very rooms where an assault occurred.

“This project is part of our final way for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County to see these children step into their futures with love, with confidence, and with strength,” said Shannon Dixon, CACCC’s director of Outreach, on Wednesday.

This year, CACCC received grants to redecorate two new rooms for children it counseled.

The center provides a neutral, child-friendly facility that facilitates a multi-disciplinary approach in the prevention, detection, investigation and treatment of child abuse.
