A San Antonio software engineer filed to run today as a Democrat for Texas Senate District 25, a position now held by Republican Donna Campbell.

Robert Walsh with Armstrong World Industries describes himself on LinkedIn as a systems-oriented analytical leader who is “code-first, infrastructure-focused, but I can get pixel deep with the best of them.”

Today was filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in the March 1, 2022 Republican and Democratic primaries.

Campbell, a Republican, will square off against Channon Cain, a Lakeway resident who works for a financial services firm, in the Republican primary.

Campbell, an emergency-room physician, became the 15th woman elected to serve in the Texas senate in 2012.

It could take over a week for the Texas Secretary of State’s office to finalize its official list of candidates.

The newly redistricted Senate District 25 includes Comal, Kendall and Blanco counties and parts of Bexar, Guadalupe, Travis and Hays counties. The current district map remains in place until the next election’s winners take office on Jan. 3, 2023.
