Canyon Lake’s Dam Service Road will close from 7 a.m. to sunset on March 9 for herbicide application.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Fort Worth District said an agency contractor will spray the rip rap and the downstream embankment for woody plants and other unwanted vegetation.
The dam service road is expected to be closed for one day to allow the contractor to stage equipment and apply herbicide.
“We understand a large number of people use the dam service road as a place to walk, take pictures, and enjoy being outdoors, but for the safety of all visitors, including pets enjoying a walk with their owner, we will be restricting access until the work is completed,”said Canyon Lake Manager, Javier Pérez Ortiz.
The Corps anticipates reopening the road on March 10 after the contractor moves equipment onto the downstream embankment and off the Dam Service Road.
“Herbicide application on Canyon Dam occurs twice a year, once in spring and once in late summer,” added Pérez.
