On Friday, Canyon Lake Water Service Company/SJWTX Inc. relaxed water restrictions, allowing customers to return to a year-round watering schedule.

Under year-round conditions, landscape watering using in-ground or above-ground sprinkler systems is limited to two days per week, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. or from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

SJWTX lifted emergency water conditions imposed on the north side of Canyon Lake, Spring Branch and Bulverde after an Oct. 11 leak on a main transmission line on Lakeshore Drive on the north side of Canyon Lake on Oct. 11. This line is feeds most water-storage tanks and towers in Spring Branch and Bulverde.

Some customers disregarded last week’s request to limit water usage to indoor-only while repairs were underway, SJWTX said in a statement, forcing it to limit use to indoor and essential-use only.

“Despite our request to limit water usage to indoor-only, our monitoring shows that landscape irrigation continues to be the primary reason why our storage facilities are unable to recover to adequate levels for the health and safety of our community Our observation shows that landscape irrigation is occurring overnight including days and times when watering should not occur. If landscape irrigation continues, customers may experience low- or no-water-pressure situations.”

SJWTX provides water and wastewater service for Canyon Lake.
