Canyon Lake Residents Compete in Texas Lineman’s Rodeo

David Hernandez, Michael Thyberg, Crispen Davis, Chris Gerchman, Asuncion Menchaca, Tyler Spell and Zachary Gough will compete in the Texas Lineman’s Rodeo at Nolte Island Park near Seguin over the weekend.

The Canyon Lake residents are journeyworkers for the Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC). Gough and Spell are apprentices.

Events kick off Friday with a written test for apprentices.

The events begin at 6:45 a.m. Saturday.

Linemen from around the state will showcase the same skills used in the field. To see a video about the competition, click here.

PEC spokesperson Kendra Acosta said the event helps crews provide enhanced service and reliability to customers.

This weekend’s results will be posted to PEC’s social media channels. More information is available online at tira.org.

Winners will advance to the International Lineman’s Rodeo in Overland Park, Kansas, Oct. 16-19.

PEC is the largest distribution electric cooperative in the United States. The company services customers in Canyon Lake, operating over 300 miles of transmission.
