Update: Lockdown was lifted at 12:10 pm. Parents should follow school protocol for “reunification” or pick up of students.
Local law enforcement and the New Braunfels Fire Department are on campus at Canyon Middle School evaluating the scene after a lockdown was initiated at 9:10 a.m. following a threat.
Students and staff are safely locked inside their classrooms, the district said in a statement issued at 10:15 a.m.
There are no reports of gunshots, violence or injuries. Students are banned from using cellphones in classrooms so further information is not available.
The district dd not provide a reason for the lockdown or specify whether law enforcement was inside the building. “Reunification” information will be available as soon as law enforcement clears the scene.
New Braunfels police also are at the scene at 2014 FM1101.
Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds issued this statement around 10 a.m.:
