A panel of experienced area election judges and ballot board members led by Comal County Republican Election Judge Steve Robertson will discuss local election administration and systems at Election Security: Casting a Ballot in the Comal Area, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Howard Payne University, 2164 Oak Run Pkwy., New Braunfels

County Elections Coordinator Cynthia Jaqua will provide a voting machine demonstration. Attendees can practice in-person voting in a mock election.

Residents also can register to vote, receive nonpartisan election information, and learn more about applications for vote–by-mail for those eligible.

The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Comal Area (LWVCA).

President Jerrie Champlin said volunteers have been fielding questions from potential voters at the League’s Get Out the Vote tables.

“There is a great deal of misinformation circulating about voter rolls, election equipment and the general administration of elections,” she said. “This is a chance for folks to hear directly from the people who run the elections. The judges and poll workers are our neighbors, citizens who have chosen to serve their community by helping voters cast their ballots. Voters will have a chance to experience casting an in-person ballot on Comal County equipment. We will also offer voter registration, nonpartisan election information, and information and applications for vote-by-mail for those eligible.”
