Three Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies were honored this week for their efforts in saving the life of a three-year-old girl who was accidentally shot by a gun.

Deputies Lawrence Garner, Bradley Graham and Paul Tafolla arrived on the scene before paramedics and applied a tourniquet to the child’s arm before carrying her outside for transport to a hospital.

In honor of their efforts, the deputies received a certificate and a uniform pen. They were nominated for the awards by their supervisor, CCSO spokesperson Jennifer Smith said.

According to a Facebook post, the child would not have survived without their actions.

“Deputy Garner, Graham and Tafolla did a tremendous job during such a critical incident and went above and beyond their duties, which brings great credit upon themselves and the CCSO,” an administrator posted on the Sheriff’s Office page.
