Canyon Lake High Schol junior Krissie Lorine Feller caught a calf at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s iconic Calf Scramble on Jan. 14, earning her a $500 purchase certificate for a show heifer and the chance to earn up to $16,000  in scholarship awards.

Feller is a member of the Canyon Lake FFA. Her parents are Michelle and Christopher Feller of Canyon Lake.

The Calf Scramble gives 20 students an opportunity to catch 10 calves at the rodeo.

Feller will use the $500 certificate to buy a heifer to raise and also exhibit at next year’s Stock Show. Exhibitors who submit monthly reports and a final essay may be eligible for scholarship awards of between $500 to $16,000.

Since its inception in 1987, the program has distributed almost $4 million to nearly 8,000 Texas students.
