SJWTX Inc., better known as Canyon Lake Water Service Company (CLWSC), today said it plans to buy Texas Country Water Inc., a privately held Comal County utility providing water to approximately 300 customers through 100 service connections.

Texas Country Water has no employees. The transaction will not affect rates or services for customers of either company.

SJWTX said it has filed an application with the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) for approval of the transaction.

In a statement, SJWTX said its greater technical and financial resources will allow for the timely replacement of aging water facilities but will continue to use existing water supplies for the foreseeable future.

The move also will ensure greater access to capital and management resources needed for Comal’s fast-growing population, SJWTX said.

Company President Thomas Hodge said the acquisition positions SJWTX for growth while better managing regional water resources.

“We are pleased to extend our services to Texas Country Water customers as part of our Canyon Lake Water Service Company,” he said. “We look forward to delivering exceptional drinking-water services to these customers in the future. The addition of Texas Country water to our SJWTX family reaffirms our commitment towards providing world-class service and safe drinking water to our community.”
